Tsai Ing-wen swore in her second term of presidency. This inauguration took place even after a lot of political pressure from China. Tsai ing-wen will start her second term as Taiwan’s president on May 20. The region has successfully managed to beat the coronavirus outbreak to some extent. Moreover, Tsai has benefited from an upswing of support from the US and its allies. Amid the tussle between China and the US, the latter remains a close informal ally of Taiwan.
The military dealings between the US and Taiwan are estimated to be $24 million. President Tsai Ing-wen’s approval rating stood at around 61%. After she swore in for presidency, Tsai ing-wen said that she wants dialogues and peace with China. She wants to uplift the economy by focusing on six sectors including energy, cybersecurity, and biotechnology.
