On Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a fresh round of consultations with the Chief Ministers of Corona-affected states. In this meeting, various points such as ways to tackle the COVID-19 virus and scaling up economic activities across the nation were discussed. While the nation is waiting for the lockdown to be lifted, the recent meeting did not give hopes for the same.
The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, recommended extending the lockdown even further until the situation turns normal. This decision was supported by Chief Ministers of many other states like Punjab, Telangana, Bihar, Gujarat, and West Bengal. Some of the Chief Ministers conveyed that though the lockdown should be continued, various economic activities within the states can be restarted. CM Thackeray even gave a sigh of relief by signalling that local trains in Mumbai are soon expected to rerun.
