Cyclone Amphan, which is expected to reach Bengal, has now turned in to a “super cyclone” as per the weather forecast team and requires immediate attention.
As a result, PM Narendra Modi will be holding a meeting this evening to review the cyclone and make the necessary arrangements. Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, “To review the arising cyclone situation in various parts of the country, PM @narendramodi ji will chair a high-level meeting with MHA & NDMA, today at 4pm (sic).”
A “very heavy rain warning” has also been issued for the states of Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya till May 21. It is also said that the high-velocity winds may cause much of the damage to kaccha and pucca houses in the concerned areas while communication poles and minor damage to railways might also be caused. Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Balasore are other areas that might be affected.
