Prime Minister Narendra Modi arranged for an informal group of ministers (GoM) with the intention of being able to monitor the implementation of the Rs 20 lakh crore economic stimulus package. On Sunday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the details of the same over five press conferences.
The first tranche of announcements included measures for MSMEs and taxpayers that amounted to Rs 5,94,550 crore, while the second tranche aimed at benefitting the migrant workers and the urban poor which stood at Rs 3,10,000 crore. The third tranche looked at FMEs totaling Rs 1,50,000 crore. Tranches four and five accounted for Rs 48,100 crore.
The Group of Ministers are said to meet at Rajnath Singh’s residence on Monday to plan the execution of the relief package. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman, and Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari will also participate in the meeting.
