Nationwide Lockdown Extended Till May 31; List Of Essential Services Expanded

To curb the spread of the dangerous Coronavirus in the country, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced an extension of lockdown till May 31. Lockdown 4.0 will commence from May 18 and will last till May 31. However, this lockdown is completely different from the previous three. In this phase of the lockdown, the government will be trying to bring the economy back on track by giving permits to many business activities. The categorisation of zones shall now be under State authorities instead of Central.

Restaurants, theatres, malls, schools, and colleges will remain closed till May 31. The government has given permission for interstate and intrastate travel with the consent of state authorities. E-commerce companies are now allowed to deliver non-essential items in all zones except containment zones. Transportations like railways, metros, and airways will not operate, but buses and taxis are given permission with some restrictions. Moreover, stadiums and sports complex can now conduct sports events without spectators.
