With the number of Coronavirus patients increasing every day, the powerful economies of the world are looking up to India to guide them in fighting the disease. Proving its credibility, recently, The National Institute of Virology, Pune, has developed its first indigenous test kit for detecting Coronavirus. They have named this kit ‘Elisa’. This testing kit will play an important role in detecting the proportion of the population exposed to the virus.

The kit has been validated in Mumbai and it has been found that the kit has great sensitivity and accuracy. The kit is said to test around 90 samples within two and a half hours. This will help the medical staff take necessary actions immediately after they find the patient to be infected. For the purpose of mass production, this technology has been transferred to Zydus Cadila. With this, we can expect a boost in the upcoming testings.
