Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur went live to reveal the eight points under the Economic Relief Package initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, headed by Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. COVID-19 warriors and healthcare workers will be provided with an insurance policy worth Rs 50 lakh. Eighty crore poverty-stricken people have been supplied five kgs of rice or wheat besides the Public Distribution System (PDS), individually, in the months of April and May 2020. Families will also be given one kg of pulses.
Along with that, the senior citizens, widowed, and specially-abled civilians are aided monetarily with a direct credit of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 in their bank accounts. Rs 52,606 crore has been transferred to 20 and a half crore ‘Jan Dhan Yojana‘ account holders. The 8 crore ‘Ujwala Yojana‘ consumers were said to be given one free gas cylinder every month until their requirement persists. An amount of Rs 2000 has been transferred into the individual accounts of PM farmers across India.
