Migrant Labourers Killed On Railway Tracks By A Goods Train In Aurangabad

The migrants who were working in a steel factory in Jalna and had lost their jobs during the lockdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

16 migrant labourers, including children, have died, while five are in critical condition when a goods train ran over them in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The migrants were sleeping on the railway tracks after walking the full day. They were walking from Maharashtra to Madhya Pradesh. 

The migrants who were working in a steel factory in Jalna, had lost their jobs during the lockdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak.The incident is being investigated and Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the Railway Minister, Shri Piyush Goyal and has said that all necessary assistance will be provided. He tweeted, “Extremely anguished by the loss of lives due to the rail accident in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. Have spoken to Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal and he is closely monitoring the situation. All possible assistance required is being provided,” he tweeted.

The accident happened on the Aurangabad-Jalna railway line under the limits of Karmad police station, following which, the police immediately rushed to the spot.
