On Monday, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to accommodate the movement of people by trains and made it clear that only asymptomatic ticket holders will be allowed to travel.
The Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla also mentioned that passengers will have to wear face masks and follow all the rules of social distancing before entering a station and during travel. The Ministry of Railways will ensure that passengers are screened and only those who do not have any symptoms will be allowed to board a train. All passengers will also be provided hand sanitisers at stations and in coaches.
Additionally, the movement of trains shall be permitted by the Ministry of Railways in an organised manner. For the first time since the lockdown began, a total of 15 trains for different destinations left New Delhi on Tuesday for which bookings began on Monday.
