It’s truly a moment of pride when you know that your favourite shows on Zee Kannada have taken over four spots out of the top five spots on the TRP rate-chart. But before we get into the shows, let’s learn about why we love the serials on Zee Kannada. The number one reason is that each of these shows portrays their lead as a strong and fearless female. To top it, they are hail from different backgrounds.
For example, in Gattimela, Amulya is an independent woman who is like no less than a son of the house. Similarly, in Jothe Jotheyali, Anu plays the role of a young college student, who aims to be a successful employee in Aaryavardhan’s firm and do her job right, while helping her parents out financially. So, these serials not only offer us loads of entertainment but also drive home the message about women empowerment.
Now, let’s look at the top four shows that have won hearts all over the state, shall we?
1. Jothe Jotheyali
Topping the TRP charts for over two weeks now and by a large scale is the newest entrant of Zee Kannada, Jothe Jotheyali. Starring Megha Shetty and Aniruddha Jatkar as Anu and Aaryavardhan respectively, the show is about two individuals, who are as different as chalk and cheese. Firstly, their financial statuses are at the opposite ends of a pole and to top it, Aaryavardhan is 25 years older than Anu! Megha-Aniruddha’s excellent onscreen chemistry and relatability has captured the hearts of many viewers, giving it the rightful No 1 spot.
Next, we have another adorable love story, Gattimela, which stars Nisha Ravikrishnan and Rakshit in the lead roles of Amulya Manjunath and Vedanth Vashishta. Until the entry of Jothe Jotheyali, you should know that it was Gattimela that was in the No 1 position. The story focuses on a middle-class girl Amulya, who crosses paths with Vedanth, a man who hates women. How they both slowly let go of their differences and come together forms the crux of the plot. A well-deserving second spot indeed.
3. The third spot is taken by a show called Mangala Gowri Maduve from another leading channel.
In the fourth spot, however, we are back with the Zee Kannada show Paaru with Mokshitha Pai and Sharath Padmanabh as Parvathi and Aditya, respectively. In this show, Paaru works as a cook at the wealthy and influential businessman Aditya Arasanakote’s house. His mother is none other than the dreaded disciplinarian Arasane Koteya Akhilandeshwari, who always stands for the truth and hates liars and deceivers, even if the lie is coming from her own son. A story of ideals and values, Paaru is truly worth a watch.
5. Yaare Nee Mohini
After the change of the lead character Chethan Vicky aka Muttu to Suraj Holalu, Yaare Nee Mohini has jumped up to the fifth position on the TRP charts and happiness is all we feel. Suraj Holalu, Sushma Shekhar, Aishwarya Baspure and Bharati Hegde play the lead role of Muttu, Belli, Maya and Chithra. The story revolves around these four main characters — Muttu, a rich man in a village, Belli, the helper of his house who loved Muttu since the time she was a kid, Maya, the antagonist of the show who will not stop at anything till she gets Muttu as her husband and finally Chithra, Muttu’s deceased wife, who is back as a spirit to ensure Belli marries Muttu.
