FBI Arrests NASA Researcher As He Fails To Disclose Ties With China

NASA officer, who oversaw Ang's grant, said that if they had known about his involvement with China, they wouldn't have given him the contract.

The FBI arrested University of Arkansas professor Simon Saw Teong Ang who was allegedly funded by NASA for being connected to the Chinese communist government which was also kept a secret from US authorities. Ang was charged with fraud for not including his ties to China on a successful grant that was worth more than half a million dollars to NASA.

“These materially false representations to NASA and the University of Arkansas resulted in numerous wires to be sent and received that facilitated Ang’s scheme to defraud,” the Department of Justice said in their statement.

A university employee who was in search of an owner of a hard drive is said to have found information regarding  Ang. While searching through the hard drive, the employee is said to have discovered a number of emails between Ang and a researcher from Xidian University in Xi’an, China.
