While a lot of Kannada films were set to hit the screens in 2020, the lockdown due to COVID-19 has stalled not only the release of the same but also the shooting of some of the films. It is anticipated that movies will not be released in theatres for the next six weeks at least. Big-budget film producers eagerly await the lifting of the lockdown as they have already experienced a considerable loss.
Some of the films that are ready to be released are Roberrt, starring Darshan, and Kotigobba 3, starring Sudeep. Pogaru, starring Dhruva Sarja and Rashmika Mandanna, which was supposed to be released on March 24, 2020 is also on the waitlist.
Given the current situation, the Sandalwood industry is not experiencing a dip in numbers, but as per the industry’s analysis, it will take a long time before the industry can get back on its feet again.
